Foodshare Notts, a project to educate children about growing produce and sharing it with the needy, won the education and the environment award.
It was founded last year by West Bridgford residents Penney Poyzer-Schalom, 55, and Shona Munro, 41, as an offshoot from their not-for-profit food and energy solutions
company Nourish Associates.
Ms Munro said: "It's great to get Foodshare Notts on the map. It's a really important initiative because it's teaching pupils the art of philanthropy and sharing food locally with people who really need it.
"To be recognised for the work we've done will hopefully springboard us into more opportunities so more schools and organisations can adopt food sharing."
